Gimbal Token Swarm
Commander: Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy
Created 5 July 2026
Collect as many differently named artifact tokens as possible — Clues, Food, Treasures, Thopters, and more — so Gimbal's free end-step Gremlin gets bigger and bigger. Every single turn.
How to Play
HOW GIMBAL WORKS: At the start of each of your end steps, you get a free Gremlin token. It's a 0/0 artifact creature, but it enters with +1/+1 counters equal to the number of differently named artifact tokens you control. So if you have Clue + Food + Treasure + Thopter + Rock + Land Mine + Gremlin + Banana — 8 tokens with 8 different names — that's a free 8/8 trampler every turn. And it grows as you collect more token types. THE TOKEN TYPES YOU'RE COLLECTING: This deck creates a huge variety of differently named tokens: - Clue tokens (Tireless Tracker, Crack Open, Root Out) - Food tokens (Gilded Goose, Tireless Provisioner, Peregrin Took) - Treasure tokens (Brass's Bounty, Spell Swindle, Storm the Vault) - Thopter tokens (Loyal Apprentice, Thopter Spy Network, Sai, Whirler Rogue) - Rock tokens (Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith) - Land Mine tokens (Goblin Kaboomist) - Gold tokens (Curse of Opulence) - Icy Manalith tokens (Svella, Ice Shaper — also taps for mana!) - Meteorite tokens (Roxanne, Starfall Savant — also taps for mana!) - Gremlin tokens (Gimbal himself) - Banana tokens (Kibo, Uktabi Prince) - Pest tokens (Nuisance Engine) - Construct tokens (Worldwalker Helm, Oviya Pashiri) ACADEMY MANUFACTOR — THE COMBO PIECE: Whenever you'd create a Clue, Food, or Treasure token, you instead create one of each of the three. So Tireless Tracker finding a land gives you Clue + Food + Treasure instead of just a Clue — three differently named tokens from one trigger. Getting this out early wins games. THE WIN CONDITIONS: 1. Giant trampling Gremlin army — with 12+ differently named tokens, Gimbal creates a free 12/12 trampler every end step. Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer can then turn all your other tokens into copies of that 12/12. 2. Rise and Shine — overload for {4}{U}{U} to make every artifact you control (including artifact lands and tokens) into a 4/4 artifact creature, then attack with everything. 3. Cyberdrive Awakener — gives all your artifact creatures (including tokens) flying. A wave of giant trampling flying Gremlins is hard to survive. 4. Mechanized Production — enchant one of your artifact tokens; each upkeep you copy it. Get 8 or more copies and you win the game outright. Stick it on a Gremlin token and count to 8. 5. Ghirapur Aether Grid — tap two artifact tokens to deal 1 damage to any target. With dozens of tokens sitting around, this drains opponents for real damage in the late game without attacking. OTHER KEY PIECES: - Shimmer Dragon: with 4+ artifacts it has flying, and you can tap two artifact tokens to draw a card — free card draw since your tokens aren't doing much else most turns. - Reckless Fireweaver: every artifact that enters under your control deals 1 damage to each opponent. With Academy Manufactor in play, one land drop can trigger three artifacts entering — 3 damage per land drop. - Junk Winder: every time you create a token, tap an opponent's permanent — in a deck making 5-10 tokens per turn cycle, this locks opponents out of their best permanents. - Artifact lands (Seat of the Synod, Great Furnace, Tree of Tales, Darksteel Citadel): count as artifacts for all your synergies, budget-friendly, and get animated by Rise and Shine. UPGRADE PATH (when budget allows): - Parallel Lives (~£13) doubles every token you create. - Doubling Season (~£35) doubles tokens AND counters — Gimbal's Gremlin enters with double the counters, so double the size. - Urza, Lord High Artificer for an even stronger mana/card-advantage engine.
